    For decades, uterine leiomyomas have evolved from being considered merely nodules requiring removal when symptomatic to becoming the subject of extensive multidisciplinary research.<\/p>\n

    Modern research spans physiopathology, genetics, surgery, interventional radiology and advanced imaging diagnostics. A PubMed search performed on October 25, 2019 returned over 22,000 results for \u201cuterine leiomyoma\u201d and more than 24,000 for \u201cuterine fibroids,\u201d reflecting the strong scientific interest in this condition.<\/p>\n

    Medical treatments include progestins, oral contraceptives, GnRH agonists and antagonists, and selective progesterone receptor modulators (SPRM). Parallel to pharmacological therapies, less invasive surgical techniques have been developed to preserve the uterus in most affected women.<\/p>\n

    This monograph illustrates the physiopathology of submucous fibroids and provides a detailed guide to hysteroscopic myomectomy using the so-called cold loop technique. This innovative method allows progressive removal of the intramural component while minimizing damage to healthy myometrial tissue.<\/p>\n

    The procedure combines an electrified loop for endocavitary slicing with a purely mechanical, non-electrified instrument for intramural removal, reducing muscular fiber damage and preserving uterine function for reproductive purposes.<\/p>\n
