The question is not whether machines will replace human expertise, but whether professionals who <strong>ignore the tools already in their patients\u2019 hands<\/strong> will remain relevant.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who understands what a smartwatch does can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>explain it clearly to patients;<\/li>\n<li>use it to provide more <strong>precise and continuous follow-up<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>recommend <strong>tech-based, personalised solutions<\/strong> that improve outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The other day, I walked into an Apple Store. I asked about a smartwatch and the salesperson immediately started asking me health-related questions \u2013 not to diagnose me, but to figure out <strong>which device could best fit my physiological profile<\/strong>. That was not medicine, but it was <strong>applied health literacy<\/strong>. And this, dear physicians, <strong>is already happening \u2013 outside our clinics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, I see many doctors attending courses on breathing techniques, nutrition strategies or even marketing skills. Some join AI seminars that, let us be honest, remain <strong>largely theoretical and detached from practice<\/strong>. Useful? Perhaps. But while we theorise, the <strong>wearable tech industry is moving fast<\/strong>, launching <strong>clinically relevant devices every single day<\/strong>, many of which are <strong>certified as medical devices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, many still call them <em>gadgets<\/em>. Some of these wearables are, in essence, <strong>always-on Holter monitors<\/strong>, with live alerts, remote analysis and seamless integration with AI systems.<\/p>\n<p>As Forrest Gump once said: <em>\u201cStupid is as stupid does.\u201d<\/em><br \/> Dismissing certified medical devices as toys? That is not smart.<\/p>\n<h2>The real key: connectivity<\/h2>\n<p>Here is the real key: <strong>connectivity<\/strong>. With <strong>5G and eSIM technology<\/strong>, a simple smartwatch becomes a constant <strong>gateway to massive computational infrastructures<\/strong>. These tiny devices can <strong>collect and transmit health data in real time<\/strong> to AI systems housed in data centres the size of buildings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\ud83d\udd0e In short:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Technology is not replacing doctors \u2013 stagnation is.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Those who understand digital tools can support patients <strong>more accurately, continuously and proactively<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>And yes \u2013 this means that someone who is not a doctor <strong>may sometimes be better equipped to help a patient than you are<\/strong>, simply because they understand the tech.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is not about surrendering your role. It is about <strong>reclaiming it \u2013 with new tools, new vision and renewed responsibility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Because those who treat cutting-edge medical devices as gadgets <strong>are not
