Nozioni Fondamentali di TC-BODY – 5th Edition
Large-format volume (22 x 28 cm), 408 pages, 620 images, numerous tables, printed on special paper and bound in full-colour laminated paperback.
Although this book focuses on the “fundamentals” (which has always been our goal), the basic principles continue to evolve alongside advances in computed tomography (CT), improved understanding of disease processes and changes in medical practice. This new edition provides the opportunity to update important topics and add new material, including numerous high-quality modern images.
Part I, devoted to the chest, includes updates on adenocarcinoma classification, CT lung cancer screening (using the Lung-RADS reporting and data system), lung cancer staging and the classification and diagnosis of interstitial lung diseases using high-resolution CT.
Additions to Part II, covering the abdomen, include revisions of the LI-RADS (Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System) classification for hepatocellular carcinoma, updates to the Atlanta classification of acute pancreatitis, revised classification of cystic pancreatic neoplasms and improved description of CT findings in histologic subtypes of renal cell carcinoma.
Part III, focusing on the musculoskeletal system, emphasises the diagnosis of abnormalities—often incidental—detected on chest and abdominal CT scans performed for non-musculoskeletal indications.
In the years since the previous edition, spiral (helical) CT techniques have continued to advance. This edition reviews the spiral CT protocols currently used in clinical practice for diagnosing thoracic, abdominal and musculoskeletal abnormalities, including discussions of high-resolution CT, pulmonary nodule evaluation, lung cancer screening, CT diagnosis of pulmonary embolism, CT enterography, CT enteroclysis, CT virtual colonoscopy and optimisation of CT techniques in musculoskeletal imaging.
All chapters have been updated with new topics, expanded discussions and new images, including revised descriptions and illustrations of normal anatomy and incidental findings. Disease classifications—including those for lung adenocarcinoma, diffuse lung diseases and pancreatic lesions—have been updated where appropriate.
We hope you will derive both enjoyment and benefit from our efforts.
