The thyroid is a superficial organ that can be easily palpated. Given the high frequency of thyroid nodules and the extent of thyroid lesions, complementary examinations are often required; therefore, ultrasound and Doppler ultrasound represent the first-line diagnostic approach. These are fast and non-invasive examinations that produce excellent-quality images.

This educational manual, featuring more than 200 images, aims to guide the reader in learning and practicing these techniques, while also serving as a useful reference for clinicians already familiar with thyroid imaging.

The volume opens with an introductory chapter describing the normal thyroid gland and its variants, followed by sections dedicated to goiters, nodules, and tumors. New applications of thyroid Doppler in the evaluation of thyroid dysfunction and thyroiditis are illustrated, concluding with ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration.
