How to use this manual effectively

By consulting individual chapters, readers can benefit from several methodological and didactic features:

  • Quick chapter search (chapter list on page 5)
  • Identification of more challenging questionnaires and related in-depth explanations, described on page 5
  • Reference figures numbered according to the page on which they appear (e.g., Figure 36.2 on page 36)
  • Explanatory figures and diagrams highlighted with a blue frame and usually placed on the same page as the text
  • Annotation numbers in bold within the text, referenced in the final legend (consistent throughout the book)
  • Terms listed in the analytical index (page 116, also pages 4–5)
  • Normal values and threshold values listed in the pocket-sized laminated insert

Why this book is called a manual

Each page can be used as a quiz to test the reader’s knowledge. Figures are identified by numbers rather than names, allowing self-assessment of the ultrasound structures depicted. Quiz questions and guided exercises serve the same purpose.

This approach encourages active participation and long-term learning through different study methods. The author hopes readers will achieve this goal and enjoy the process.
