Rockwood-Green Traumatologia dell’adulto – 9th Edition

The ninth edition of Rockwood and Green – Traumatologia dell’adulto represents both a major step forward and a continuation of the work carried out in previous editions. The authors have expanded topics of growing importance, particularly those concerning patients with complex physiology and perioperative management challenges.

Five entirely new chapters have been added:

  • “Obesity and Diabetes in Orthopedic Trauma” (Ch. 22)
  • “Perioperative Management of Fracture-Associated Pain” (Ch. 27)
  • “Chest Wall Injuries” (Ch. 44)
  • “Design and Technical Considerations in Internal Fixation” (Ch. 12)
  • “Principles of Pathophysiology and Treatment of Traumatic Nerve Injuries” (Ch. 19)

This edition also expands the discussion of upper-limb periprosthetic fractures, proximal forearm fractures (olecranon, proximal third and radial head), and atypical femur fractures — each now developed within its own dedicated chapter. As expected from Rockwood and Green, the coverage is comprehensive, clear and illustrated by leading international experts.

Each clinical chapter follows a uniform format, with preoperative planning checklists, key surgical steps, and tables outlining potential pitfalls and preventive strategies. A commented bibliography has been added to highlight foundational studies and key clinical trials. The well-regarded “Author’s Preferred Treatment” section remains, presented through a concise therapeutic algorithm summarizing the core content.

We are grateful to the experts who contributed their expertise and time to ensure this work remains a valuable resource for improving the management of orthopedic trauma patients worldwide — a goal shared by all of us.
