The fifth edition of Anatomia e Tecnica Chirurgica represents an important evolution compared to previous editions, with the addition of new color illustrations and new chapters. The color drawings allow younger readers, as well as more experienced ones, to better follow the technique and better understand the anatomy. In the chapter on hernias and the abdominal wall, the section on operative strategies has been updated and techniques that had only historical interest have been removed. The new color drawings clarify much more effectively the technique of the “transversus abdominis muscle release” (TAR).
