Risonanza Magnetica Mammaria Abbreviata

Large format (21 × 28 cm), 138 pages, numerous illustrations, partly in color.

Breast cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women. Despite decades of organized mammographic screening programs, breast cancer continues to represent the leading (in many European countries) or second leading (in the United States) cause of cancer-related mortality among women. It is time to seek better screening methods.

Over recent decades, breast MRI has demonstrated substantially higher sensitivity and improved early detection compared to mammographic screening, regardless of tumor type, stage, invasive or intraductal status, primary or recurrent presentation, breast density, family history or overall risk.

Abbreviated breast MRI (AB-MR) may represent the missing link to overcome cost and availability limitations and potentially change current screening standards.

This is the first book dedicated to abbreviated breast MRI. It provides radiologists with fundamental guidelines for implementing, performing and interpreting AB-MR, including clinical evidence, technical approaches, flowchart-based interpretation and biopsy techniques.

The editors are principal investigators of the first multicenter study evaluating AB-MR, and each chapter author is a recognized leader in breast MRI, offering a unique and practical approach.

This book aims to encourage widespread adoption of AB-MR and improve global access to the most powerful tool currently available for early breast cancer detection.
