This volume presents radiological cases of tropical diseases observed by Professor Mario Di Egidio, who worked as a radiologist in Yemen at the Taiz Ahmed I Civil Hospital between 1954 and 1958. These cases were published in Italy mainly in the journal Nuntius Radiologicus and in the Radiology Treatise edited by UTET.

During that period, the Taiz hospital was an international medical centre, with a strong presence of Italian physicians, supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and encouraged by King Ahmed I.

Numerous tropical and parasitic diseases were observed in the radiology department, many of which were scarcely known in Western medical literature due to the limited availability of radiological equipment in poorer regions of the world.

The book focuses on bilharziasis, dracunculiasis, Madura foot (mycetoma), bone lesions in leprosy, variola osteomyelitis, Ainhum, and parasitic diseases also present in Western countries such as hydatidosis, cysticercosis and ascariasis.
